Hey there!

I'm Leighona Cara. I am a queer, non-binary pirate, selkie, witch and wanderer. I live in the cloudy sea town of Bellingham, Washington. My main job in town is leading groups of kids on live-action-role-play adventures in the woods with the company Majestic Adventures, where I play every character the kids meet, every monster they battle, and serve as their guide through epic struggles, both in game, and in real life. Through the use of character archetypes, mythic storylines, and non-violent communication practices, I have witnessed hundreds of children claim their unique sense of empowerment and play, and Allie Odds is my attempt to give this gift to people of all ages.

The first four episodes of Allie Odds were written during a month-long Artist in Residency program at the Lookout Arts Quarry in December of 2018. As part of the AR program, I gave a live performance of the first four episodes in a cozy little yurt beside a glowing fire, and thus Allie Odds was welcomed into the world. Over 40 people packed into the small yurt for the event, and laughed, sang and cried as brown bread, stinky blue cheese and foaming ales were shared throughout the telling. It was a night of merriment and joy that captured the very spirit of Allie Odds. Ever since then, I have held a live reading whenever I debut new episodes, to offer the magical practice of live community storytelling. I hope that you feel similarly welcome and cozy when you listen to these tales.
